Mary Baldwin College Welcomes New Vice President for Institutional Advancement
On March 1, 2007, Susan Thompson Timmons (’64), founder and president of LEAD VIRGINIA, will begin her tenure as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Mary Baldwin College. In many ways she embodies the spirit and strengths of our college. In addition to an impressive professional track record she brings an extraordinary breadth of connection and commitment to MBC. As a Mary Baldwin alumna, she has led the Richmond Alumnae Chapter, been president of the national MBC Alumnae/i Association, and served on the Board of Trustees for 10 years. She served on the presidential search committee that led to the appointment of Cynthia H. Tyson as the eighth president of Mary Baldwin College. To acknowledge her principled leadership in the many aspects of her life, the MBC Alumnae/i Association has honored her with its prestigious Emily Wirsing Kelly Leadership Award. She has also visited campus as the Smyth Business Lecturer and taught in MBC’s Adult Degree Program.
Although she will not officially begin until March 1 (in order to ensure the leadership transition in her current organization), she will immediately begin close communication with me about our evolving campaign plans and she will be present on campus several days each month beginning January 1.
