Xavier University Names New Associate Provost for Student Life and Leadership

AKathleen E. Simons, Ph. D. is the new Associate Provost for Student Life and Leadership at Xavier University. She assumed her duties on June 25.
Simons was the Dean of Students at National-Louis University in Chicago and before that served as the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She also served as the Dean of Student Affairs at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois and was the Director of Housing and Residence Life at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.

Simons has taught classes in interpersonal communications, organizational communications, effective public speaking, and managerial presentation.
She received her doctorate in education administration and foundations from Illinois State University and her masters in communication studies from the University of Kansas.

Simons has also presented numerous workshops and presentations focusing on such topics as communications and team building.
