Hollins University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Financial Aid. The Director of Financial Aid reports directly to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid and oversees counseling for students and families to ensure that financial aid funds are distributed fairly, equitably, and in compliance with federal, state, and budgetary guidelines. S/he is the primary spokesperson for Hollins regarding financial aid policies both internally with students and families and externally for admissions recruitment purposes. The position interfaces closely with the Business Office and requires well-coordinated communication between the departments to ensure consistency in information provided to students. The Director provides leadership in establishing and interpreting financial aid policies, setting financial aid criteria, and developing strategies to assist students and families within the context of Hollins University’s commitment to affordability and a need-blind admissions policy.
The successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years of increasing responsibility and leadership experience in financial aid at comparable institutions. The successful candidate will also be: a person who has demonstrated both competency and leadership in the areas of strategic thinking; ability to translate business strategy into operational action; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; commitment to an open and participatory leadership style; and the ability to multi-task in the face of competing demands. Expert knowledge of policies, practices, and laws governing financial aid and related student information systems is also required. Experience with SCT Banner is preferred.
