Saint Vincent College, a Catholic liberal arts college with a student body of 1,800 students, seeks a Vice President for Institutional Advancement who will be responsible for working with the President and the Board of Directors to develop a dynamic philanthropic program. Saint Vincent College, the first Benedictine college in the United States in 1846, is known for its rich liberal arts tradition and prepares students to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to the world.
 
Located on a scenic 200-acre campus in the Laurel Highlands outdoor recreation area of southwestern Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, Saint Vincent College is nationally known for its Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve and Pittsburgh Steelers Summer Training Camp.
 
As the College’s chief advancement officer, the Vice President will provide vision, leadership, and strategic planning for garnering philanthropic support from alumni, parents, friends, corporations/businesses and foundations. The Vice President will provide support and staffing to the President, including a portfolio of top donors and prospects. Overall responsibilities also include the leadership of an Institutional Advancement staff.
 
This position will also work closely with the Archabbot/Chancellor and the Special Assistant to the Chancellor to coordinate all processes related to the successful receipt and stewardship of private support for the College. Additionally, the Vice President engages and supports the Board of Directors, especially the Investment and Advancement Committee in their role as ambassadors and advocates for support of the College. The Vice President will also collaborate with the Alumni Council and consider other advisory boards that may further the mission and support of the College.
 
Currently, the College is completing a $40,000,000 renovation and construction of the Dupre Science Pavilion of which Phase I is fully funded and anticipates a comprehensive campaign in the near future.
 
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and extensive and progressive experience in advancement.  Experience in private colleges is highly desired.  Requirements include a baccalaureate degree, a proven track record of fundraising experience including major gifts, comprehensive campaigns, planned and deferred giving, corporate and foundation solicitation and annual funds are essential.  The ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced organization and work effectively with staff, administrators, faculty, alumni, and board members is essential. Enthusiastic commitment to advancing the College’s mission, experience in team building and campaign management along with a high level of energy and initiative are required.  Knowledge of technology and commitment to its use in prospect management, research, and information systems is an expectation.
