Dear Colleagues,
I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Phillip "Flapp" Cockrell has accepted the position of Associate Vice President/Dean of Students effective April 4, 2016. Dr. Cockrell has a broad range of experience in student affairs. He served most recently as Vice Provost for Student Affairs/Dean of Students at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Prior to that, he served at Mississippi University for Women, The Ohio State University and Florida International University.
Dr. Cockrell earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Family Studies from Mississippi University for Women, a Master of Science from Florida International University in Educational Leadership - Student Affairs, and his Doctor of Philosophy from Jackson State University in Urban Higher Education.
Active in the community, Dr. Cockrell has served on a number of professional and civic boards and committees.
